The TRIBUS Theme: Resources Widget utilizes a pre-configured menu to create a series of large buttons, much like a call to action. Since the Resources widget can utilize custom links, it is commonly used to link to prebuilt search parameters, like price tiers. In this example, we'll make a menu of tiered price searches to use in the Resources Widget (Up to $500k, Up to $750k, etc).
Go to Appearance -> Menus, and click on "create a new menu."
You can call this menu whatever you like. I'm going to call mine "Resources" to keep things simple. Once you've typed in your new Menu Name, click "Create Menu."
Next, we'll add the links to our menu. You can select any pages or posts from your site, or you can build your own custom links. Since we're setting up tiered price searches, we'll use Custom Links.
In the above screenshot, I've already created four menu items using custom search URLs. For example, to make the "Up to $250k" button, the URL is:
You can test this on your site before publishing, by appending that URL to your website domain name. For example, by using the TRIBUS demo site, we get the following URL: http://tribuswp.com/properties/#max_list_price=250. Visiting this link, we see only properties with a maximum list price of $250,000. You don't need to use your domain in the Custom Link URL, as anything formatted like this will automatically be appended to your site's domain. The text you'll see in your Resources button is the "Navigation Label."
For the four buttons I've created, I used the following in the Custom Link "URL" field:
You can create your own custom searches by copying the URL (starting with /properties/...) from any IDX search you perform on your site. For example, if you search for properties that have at least three bedrooms and three bathrooms, you'll see this URL when you get the results:
You can then create a custom search using the following as your Custom Link URL:
Once the menu is saved, go back to the TRIBUS Theme: Resources Widget at Appearance -> Widgets, and select the new menu in the widget. You can change the Title to anything you like, this will appear on the front page as "Resources" with .
